Do I need an app?

No. SafeTag works with the browser already on every modern phone. A finder taps the tag or scans the printed QR code and the emergency page opens instantly — nothing to download, no account needed on their end.

Does it work with iPhone and Android?

Yes. Recent iPhones and virtually all modern Android phones read NFC tags natively. If a phone cannot tap, the printed QR code on the tag works with any camera app.

What is actually stored on the tag itself?

Only a single unpredictable HTTPS link. No name, no phone number, no address, no medical detail is ever written to the chip. If the tag is lost on its own, it tells a stranger nothing about your child or pet.

Who can see my child's or pet's information?

Only someone physically holding the tag, and only the fields you chose to publish. You control the photo, the message, the notes and the contact list, and you can hide any of it or unpublish the profile entirely at any moment.

Can someone else claim my tag?

No. Activation requires the secret claim code printed on the card that ships with your tag. That code is stored only as a cryptographic hash, never appears in the tag's URL, and repeated guessing attempts are rate limited.

Does my child need an account?

Never. Only adults create accounts. We do not collect information directly from children, and a child is never asked to sign up, log in or enter anything.

How is this different from a pet microchip?

A microchip only helps once your pet reaches a vet or shelter with a scanner. A Pets SafeTag works with the very first neighbor who picks your dog up off the sidewalk — they tap their own phone and can call you in seconds.

Can I change the information later?

Yes, as often as you like at no cost. New phone number, new vet, new medication, new photo — update it in your dashboard and the live page reflects the change immediately. No reprinting and no re-encoding.

What if I lose the tag or it gets damaged?

Disable it instantly from your dashboard so the link stops resolving. When your replacement tag arrives, use Replace to move the entire profile over to the new tag — the transfer is free and the old tag is retired.

As many as you need. One adult account can manage every SafeTag in the household — children and pets together — each with its own profile.

Can I add more than one emergency contact?

Is it waterproof and durable?

The tags are built for daily wear — bags, collars, jackets and shoes — and are sealed against water and everyday abuse. Normal use will not stop the chip from reading.
